Peritonitis due to Rhizobium radiobacter.

Rhizobium radiobacter (Agrobacterium radiobacter) is an aerobic Gram-negative rod belonging to Agrobacterium genus, a group of phytopathogenic bacteria present in the soil that has been implicated in human opportunistic infections. We report a clinical case of bacterial peritonitis in a 5-year-old child with chronic renal disease in peritoneal dialysis, who had a history of direct soil contact ...

"Agrobacterium yellow group" and Pseudomonas paucimobilis causing peritonitis in patients receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis.

Five cases of peritonitis occurred during continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis in which unusual yellow pigmented Gram negative bacteria were isolated in pure culture. Four of these isolates were identified as the so called "Agrobacterium yellow group." The remaining isolate was identified as Pseudomonas paucimobilis, an organism closely related to the Agrobacterium yellow group.

Fusarium peritonitis in a child on peritoneal dialysis: case report and review of the literature.

OBJECTIVE To review various aspects of the management of peritonitis due to Fusarium, a soil mold which infrequently causes infections in humans. DATA SOURCES A case of Fusarium peritonitis in a child on chronic peritoneal dialysis (PD) is presented. The child developed Fusarium peritonitis 2 weeks after an episode of bacterial peritonitis. His Tenckhoff catheter was removed, and he was maint...

Rhizobium radiobacter peritonitis: the first case report from India and review

BACKGROUND Rhizobium radiobacter is an opportunistic human pathogen in debilitated patients with foreign plastic intravascular devices and peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheters. We performed a Medline search of the English-language literature on R. radiobacter continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) peritonitis in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and reviewed 13 cases. CASE PRESENTATION A...

Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) associated peritonitis in a child: a rare case of peritonitis caused by sphingomonous paucimobilis.

First identified in 1977, Sphingomonous Paucimobilis has emerged as an opportunistic human pathogen. It is primarily known to cause a range of mostly nosocomial, non-life-threatening infections that typically are easily treated by antibiotic therapy. Sources of its isolation linked to clinical disease include blood, spinal fluid and leg ulcers. It has also been reported as a rare cause of perit...
